Black Moms and Mimosas: A Community Brunch & Dialogue – September 7, 2024
Capital B Gary hosted a heartwarming and intimate brunch for Black mothers and expectant mothers to discuss the critical issues surrounding Black maternal health. With a local Doula and OB-GYN leading the conversation, the event was a space for women to share their experiences and concerns, providing both a supportive environment and practical resources. The brunch highlighted the importance of addressing the maternal health disparities Black women face, and the event left attendees feeling empowered to advocate for better healthcare and support systems for mothers in their community.

Black Political Power Tour: Atlanta, GA Day 2 – June 27, 2024
The second day of the Black Political Power Tour in Atlanta focused on the deeper issues at the heart of Black political engagement, community empowerment, economic justice, and political representation. Through more discussions and hands-on events, attendees were encouraged to take the lessons learned and apply them directly to their work in the community. The day emphasized that Black political power isn’t just about voting, it’s about organizing, advocating, and ensuring that the needs of the community are represented at every level of government.
Capital B Presidential Debate Watch Party – June 27, 2024
When the presidential debate aired, Capital B brought the community together to watch and engage in meaningful discussion. This wasn’t just a typical watch party—it was a chance for attendees to break down the candidates’ positions through a Black lens, considering how the policies and proposals would impact the Black community. It was a space for debate, reflection, and, most importantly, the sharing of ideas and perspectives, offering everyone the opportunity to engage with the political process in a way that was interactive and community-driven.

The Black Political Power Tour’s Atlanta stop kicked off with an exciting day of community engagement, economic empowerment, and political awareness. Capital B organized a series of events to encourage deeper connections between local residents and political leaders. With 250 RSVP attendees, this dynamic event helped to foster important conversations about the power of Black political influence and the necessity of community involvement in the political process.

Black Political Power Tour: Oakland, CA – May 23, 2024
The first stop on Capital B’s Black Political Power Tour set the stage for a critical election year with a vibrant night of discussion in Oakland. Local organizers, national leaders, and engaged residents packed the venue to unpack the influence of Black voters in 2024. Conversations ranged from mobilizing communities to holding elected officials accountable, with panelists emphasizing the power of showing up at the polls and beyond. Audience members left energized, informed, and ready to build power in their neighborhoods. The Oakland stop marked the beginning of a nationwide dialogue that would continue in six other cities across the U.S.

At this live panel discussion, Capital B Atlanta invited Fulton County and statewide candidates to discuss the issues most important to the community. APSVotes: Meet Your Board of Education Match – October 26, 2023
Just ahead of the 2023 Atlanta Board of Education election, Capital B Atlanta hosted an interactive, matchmaking-style event that helped voters get to know their local candidates. Held in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, attendees moved from table to table in small groups, asking questions and engaging directly with those running for school board. The format broke down traditional barriers between voters and candidates, leading to candid conversations about education equity, safety, and student success. By the end of the night, guests felt more confident and better equipped to make informed choices at the ballot box.
